Neck Sprain

A sprain or strain to the neck can involve injury to the muscles, ligaments, and tendons in the cervical spine. The result is usually a stiff neck and pain in the shoulders, which can restrict movement and activity. Rest and anti-inflammatory medication will usually resolve the problem, but if there are other symptoms like shooting pain or numbness, there may be nerve compression or a larger issue.
