I suffered from degenerative joint disorder for over 20 years and had needed a partial knee replacement since 2019. I delayed surgery because I thought I was too young for a replacement. This summer, the pain became unbearable - I could barely walk. That’s when I turned to Dr. Elizabeth Gausden at HSS.

The surgery went well, and the recovery was faster and easier than I expected. By the fourth week, after physical therapy, I had full mobility and could bend my knee to 132 degrees. I wish I had done this sooner and not let age or fear hold me back. Age has nothing to do with needing a replacement - pain does. Before surgery, I was stuck in a sedentary lifestyle. Now, I’m excited to work out and be active again.
