I came to HSS at the point in my life where I was having great difficulty using stairs and I was unstable and concerned I would fall. I had spent years getting alternative treatments (gel shots) and basically ignoring the situation. I was afraid of surgery and avoided any discussion with all physicians I dealt with. When I met Dr. Carli, he confirmed that I needed a total knee replacement, but was not pushy about scheduling it. He allowed me time to consider everything he told me. He told me that even if I chose to wait on having the surgery we would meet once or twice a year so he could evaluate if I had reached “the point of no return”. That is what convinced me that Dr. Carli was the physician/surgeon I wanted to work with. He was willing to listen to me. Once I scheduled the surgery it was clear to me that the Dr and all members of his staff operated like a well oiled machine. It was clear they knew what they were doing. My recovery was not as quick as I expected but the results were exactly what I wanted. I highly recommend Dr. Carli.
