The first couple years playing in the WNBA were absolutely amazing. When I was done playing basketball, I became the head coach of Louisiana Tech, which is where I went to school. After six years at Louisiana Tech, the New York Liberty asked me to come home, and I became the Director of Player Development.

I was lucky to never get injured while playing the game, but afterwards I started to feel some things happen with my body. Dr. Lisa Callahan – sports medicine physician at HSS and Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President of Player Care at Madison Square Garden Sports – noticed that my knee was impacting my ability to be on the court with my athletes. She suggested that I meet with Dr. Andrew Pearle, an orthopedic surgeon at HSS. Right away, I was very comfortable with him. Dr. Pearle explained that I was a prime candidate for a partial knee replacement, which is a great option for people who are more athletic and want to continue playing sports after surgery.

After a successful surgery, I started the rehab process. Once I was able to get up and stand up, I knew I was going to be okay. My rehab and my progression have both been great. It takes a lot of hard work, but it was important for me to get back in shape and be able to be on the court with the Liberty players, going as hard as they do in practice and training.

Everyone at HSS constantly gave me positive encouragement that everything was going to be okay. I knew I was in the right hands with Dr. Pearle, and I am thrilled he helped me get back out on the court training!
