Tyler Ennis

My dream from an early age was to play in the NBA. In high school I was named the 2011-12 New Jersey Player of the Year and in 2013 I made the decision to play for Syracuse at the collegiate level. There I was named a finalist for the Naismith College Player of the Year as a freshman. In 2014, my dream to play in the NBA came true when I entered the draft and was chosen 18th overall by the Phoenix Suns. In the middle of my rookie season in Phoenix I was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks.

At the end of the 2015 season, I began to experience a lot of pain in my right shoulder. With the help of the Bucks team orthopedist and Dr. David Altchek, orthopedic surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery, it was determined that I had a torn labrum which would require surgery to repair. I was nervous about what this would mean for my career as a professional basketball player, but Dr. Altchek made it his priority to get me back in the game as quickly as possible.

You never want to be in that situation where you have an injury that requires surgery, but Dr. Altchek and HSS made the experience as smooth and seamless as possible. They knew the importance of me returning to the sport that I loved and Dr. Altchek helped me feel comfortable on the court again.
