After receiving two non-HSS opinions that both supported the required knee replacement, I chose HSS because of their depth of experience and the optimism they conveyed. Yes, with proper therapy and disciplined exercise, you will be able to maintain your active lifestyle and maybe in a year, you could be back to running. Well after my release on New Year's Eve 2014, I decided to set as an interim goal, my participation in the May 6, 2015 Five Boro Bike Tour. Yes, it was a 40 mile route (+ 6 miles to/from the start/finish made it a total of 52 miles), but four months had passed and I needed to feel that I was making significant progress back to normalcy...so I did it! Yes, I was sore afterwards, but I am looking forward to additional rides as we head deeper into Spring/Summer - Thanks, Dr. Cross - I salute you HSS!
