Before coming to HSS, I saw numerous doctors concerning my Scheuermann's Disease. Many of them could only take x-rays and tell me that they can't help me and do not know anyone who could help. With a 98 degree curvature and having doctors say they can't help, I felt hopeless. But then I found HSS and made an appointment with Dr. Boachie in December of 2013. There he was able to inform me more about my condition and set up an appointment for my surgery in May of 2014. Leading up to the surgery I was definitely scared, but my confidence in Dr. Boachie and Dr. Kim was overwhelming. Long story short, my surgery was a major success and my quality of life was dramatically increased. The constant pain I had associated with my condition was relieved, my breathing improved and my overall height went from 5'11" to 6'4". The picture I put up is me attending the Football Hall of Fame Ceremony less than 3 months post surgery. I was able to walk around all day without taking a break, whereas when I had my curvature I would need to take numerous breaks due to the pain. Dr. Boachie and Dr. Kim changed my life in so many different ways, they gave me my life new direction and I can't thank them enough for what they did for me. Them along with HSS gave me hope when no one else could.
