Marie Serina is a family nurse practitioner in the department of occupational health services at HSS in New York City. In her current practice she also serves as a clinical preceptor for advance practice students from Molloy College and Hunter College. Marie also practices at the New York Institute of Sports Medicine specializing in concussion care. Her previous roles have been with The College of New Rochelle as Director of College Health Services as an administrator and clinician and adjunct faculty in the School of Nursing. She has worked in primary care at a Westchester Neighborhood Health Center and Lincoln Hall. As a registered nurse, Marie worked at St. Vincent’s Catholic Medical Center (New York), Westchester County Medical Center (New York), Bronx Municipal Hospital Center (New York), and Montefiore Hospital Medical Center (New York) in the intensive care unit and operating room. She was the Medical Director at a children’s overnight camp. She has also led multiple international community service trips providing healthcare to underserved women and children.
Marie is passionate about “healthy lifestyle promotion” with extensive experience in designing and delivering health and wellness programs. She taught nursing students how to develop the leadership role by coordinating community health fairs and how to serve the community with the primary focus of disease prevention and health promotion. She has presented and published on this topic at national and international conferences. She serves on the HSS Wellness Committee and works as a wellness coach.
Marie received her RN from Misericordia School of Nursing, BSN from Pace University, Master of Arts in Nursing Education from New York University, and family nurse practitioner (FNP-BC) from Pace University. She is board certified as a family nurse practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, concussion through impact applications, and healthy coaching behaviors by the Cooper Institute. She is also an HIV and aids counselor certified through the Aids Institute. Marie is a member of The Nurse Practitioner Association New York State.
Marie is an avid gardener and enjoys exploring the world by traveling to intriguing places. In her spare time she can be found skiing the Alps, relaxing at the beach, riding her bicycle, or sitting on her front porch reading a book.
