Karen Griffin, NP

Karen Griffin is a nurse practitioner for the special procedures unit at the Hospital for Special Surgery Uniondale.  This is Karen’s first position as a nurse practitioner, but she has a long history of roles as a registered nurse.  She previously worked in the PACU at HSS, in the cardiac catheterization lab, and MICU at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, as a travel nurse in Massachusetts and New York City, and as a cardiac step down nurse at Mission Hospital North Carolina.

As a nurse practitioner, Karen is interested in developing her role in the SPU and at HSS as a whole.  She is excited to see her role expand and is interested in exploring the opportunities to come.

Karen received an Associate of Science in Nursing from Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College.  She received a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and Biology from Warren Wilson College in Asheville, North Carolina.  Karen completed her MSN from Stony Brook University.  She is a board certified adult nurse practitioner.  Karen is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.

Karen has a multitude of hobbies including travel, reading, tennis, wood working, and biking.  She currently spends the majority of her free time with her proudest accomplishments, her two children Sully and Sienna.
