Working at HSS is more than just a job; it’s a way of life. That’s why we provide our people with the tools, training and rewards that promote professional satisfaction and quality of life. When you join HSS, you’ll be eligible for a competitive benefits package that is amongst the best in the market. By taking care of the people we work with, we can take better care of the patients we serve – and that’s why we’re all here.
We understand that employees sometimes need extra help. Being part of the HSS family, we provide employees with resources for ongoing and unexpected back-up care solutions for their dependent children as well as other family members when needed. Partnering with Bright Horizons, we offer a number of options for support with access to a database of caregivers, housekeepers and tutors.
HSS participates in a wide variety of corporate discount programs. From sports club memberships, auto rentals and wireless service providers to theme parks, shows, shops and restaurants – there’s an opportunity for everyone to take advantage.
Our people travel to work from across the five boroughs and beyond. That’s why our parking facilities are offered at a reduced cost to our employees on either a regular or transient basis. Full-time employees are also eligible for monthly commuter parking. We also offer weekend parking vouchers and local daily parking alternatives.
We understand how important it is to recognize the long-term and dedicated service of our people. This recognition includes membership to the Service Award Club where eligible individuals are honored for their years of service to HSS. A celebratory dinner and induction ceremony are held annually, where veteran club members come together to reminisce and welcome new inductees.
As a global leader in healthcare, our workforce is comprised of professionals from around the world. If you have the passion, dedication and talent we need, we have the resources to make joining our team a real possibility.

The Belaire Café offers meals and light refreshments to employees throughout the day. We have a coffee kiosk, as well as vending machines throughout the main hospital building. Employees receive a discount on all café and kiosk purchases.
We work with Municipal Credit Union and various other financial institutions to offer certain banking conveniences to our employees. Loans and savings plans are also available to HSS staff as well as payroll deductions, which can be utilized for loan payments.
The Alker Memorial Patients’ Library, located on the second floor of the main hospital building, is open to patients and employees. Inside, you will find over 2,000 fiction, non-fiction, biography and pediatric books, as well as a selection of magazines to which we subscribe – all available for your reading pleasure.
The health of our employees is as important to us as the lives of the patients we treat. Our Occupational Health Services Department, comprised of licensed healthcare providers, is designed to educate staff and assess/treat their healthcare needs by providing care for acute and occupational injuries.
We offer our employees the chance to take service time off with pay for a period of up to 40 hours per year. So, if you’re passionate about a local cause or charity, we’ll support you in your efforts. This is also available to part-time employees on a pro-rated basis.
We recognize that there are a wide range of challenges which affect employee job performance both inside and outside our doors. That’s why we provide free counseling and support for individuals who feel they need some personal assistance.
We offer competitive tuition reimbursement for our full-time and part-time employees who want to complete additional schooling that may assist in advancing their careers.
