Elaine Walsh is a board certified adult nurse practitioner who works for the Adult Reconstruction and Joint Replacement Service postoperative program. Elaine has been an employee of Hospital for Special Surgery since 2004. She started in the Step Down Unit and has served as a clinical nurse leader in the post-anesthesia care unit. In 2012, she helped initiate the anticoagulation service. Elaine’s previous roles have been as an RN at Northwell Health at Glen Cove (New York), Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance (California), Green Card Medical Exams (New York), and as a nurse practitioner at Malverne Health and Wellness (New York). Elaine’s interests include alternative forms of pain management and expanding the role of advanced practice at HSS. She would like to pursue her interest in legal nursing.
Elaine is a member of the National Association of Orthopaedics and The American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She has served on the Complex Case Committee and as a chapter reviewer of the core curriculum for the National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses. Elaine is the recipient of 2007 HSS Nurse of the Year, 2010 Margaret Kahane scholarship, and 2012 Georgette “Gigi” Viellion, RN, ONC, Orthopaedic Nursing Education Scholarship Award. Elaine completed her undergraduate studies at Nassau Community College and Adelphi University and her graduate studies at Adelphi University. She received board certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is an orthopaedic nurse certified.
Elaine loves spending time with her family, traveling, going to concerts, and finding new restaurants.
