Passive External Rotation Exercise - Right Total Shoulder Replacement
Purpose
- Prevent stiffness in your shoulder
Starting position
- Lie on your back with arms as shown
Action
- Use your left arm to grasp your right arm
- Gently rotate your arm away from your body in a small, controlled motion
Tip
- Place a towel roll underneath your upper arm
- Relax your right arm throughout the exercise
- Be sure to limit your range of motion as directed by your surgeon and therapist
