Exercises for Right Flexor Tendon Repair

Finding the balance between moving the tendon and protecting it as it repairs is the key to success with tendon rehabilitation. These exercises may appear to be simple, but they are specifically designed to provide the maximum mobility to your fingers while keeping them in a safe position. Perform them exactly as described. If you have more specific questions, please contact your hand therapist or physician.

Passive flexion/active extension
Active assisted tenodesis
Active mid-range finger motion
Active PIP/DIP joint extension with MCP joint held in flexion

Hand Therapy After Injury for Right Flexor Tendon Repair

Your doctor will most likely recommend continued hand therapy with a certified hand therapist (CHT) after your discharge from the hospital. You will need a prescription from your physician to receive outpatient PT or OT. Our CHTs in the following locations are specialists in upper extremity conditions. Please contact these locations with any questions you may have.
