Passive External Rotation Exercise


  • Prevent stiffness in your shoulder

Starting position

  • Lie on your back with arms as shown


  • Use your left arm to grasp your right arm
  • Gently rotate your arm away from your body in a small, controlled motion


  • Place a towel roll underneath your upper arm
  • Relax your right arm throughout the exercise
  • Be sure to limit your range of motion as directed by your surgeon and therapist
