Michael joined the Hospital for Special Surgery Rehabilitation Department in 1984 and is currently the Clinical Supervisor for the overhead athlete.
Michael has taught as an adjunct instructor for Hunter College, Long Island University and Touro College, served on the faculty of Columbia University, and chaired eleven professional education conferences at HSS. He has published numerous chapters and articles on Sports Medicine Rehabilitation, and has lectured extensively on various subjects regarding the shoulder, elbow, knee and ankle.
Michael has served as physical therapist for the New York Mets Baseball Club from 1994 to 2000 and from 2005 to the present. He has been a consultant to numerous youth, high school, collegiate and professional athletes. He is developing a musculoskeletal profile for baseball and other overhead athletes to identify injury risk factors and enhance performance. Michael currently oversees the Overhead Thrower Program at HSS that includes video analysis and recommendations for progressive return to throwing/pitching.
