Our four research focus areas include: osteoarthritis, sports science, pediatric orthopedics, and neuromuscular rehabilitation.
A translational approach is taken from “benchtop to bedside” relating structure to biomechanical function and joint pathophysiology with a goal to develop an improved understanding of OA etiology, onset, progression, treatment, and prevention.
One of the lab’s purposes is to identify the differences in structure and function between healthy athletes and those with pathology/injury leading to the development of treatment and prevention strategies.
In the pediatric population, the lab is involved in research to understand clinical outcomes, advance measurement techniques and collaborate with footwear development.
The lab works to improve the patient’s functional limitations and quality of life. Physical and occupational therapies, orthotics, and complimentary and alternative medicine approaches are employed to achieve this goal.
