A former chief of HSS Spine at Hospital for Special Surgery, Dr. O’Leary currently serves as an associate attending spine surgeon at HSS. He is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr. O’Leary specializes in the surgical management of disorders of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine, and this has been his specialty for many years in New York City.  His area of expertise encompasses complex spine surgery, including revision surgery. He also has a special interest in the areas of surgical technology and advances in surgical technique, collaborating with colleagues in Europe and the United States.

Dr. O’Leary is a member of numerous prestigious professional organizations. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a fellow of the International College of Surgeons and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. O'Leary is also a member of the Cervical Spine Research Society, the Scoliosis Research Society and the North American Spinal Society.

In addition to New York magazine’s “Best Doctors” issue, Dr. O’Leary is named in the Castle Connolly Medical Guide, How To Find The Best Doctors in New York. He is also included in a select group of physicians named as one of America’s Top Doctors, in another book published by Castle Connolly.
