The Wheelchair Clinic serves children as well as adults with a variety of musculoskeletal conditions ranging from cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy and spina bifida to polio. Patients are not only evaluated for wheelchairs, but also for specialized walkers, strollers, bath equipment, and chairs for their homes.
Securing equipment for our patients is a multi-step process which can last up to three months. The patient’s abilities and needs are first evaluated by a physical or occupational therapist, along with a supplier. Our staff members then work with vendors and insurance companies to ensure that patients receive the equipment they need. Our Wheelchair Clinic staff serves as a critical lifeline between patients and their insurance companies, advocating for them and helping to ensure that their needs are met.
