HSS Stavros Niarchos Foundation Orthopaedic Education Program

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation, one of the world’s leading private international philanthropic organizations, provides grants for arts and culture, education, health sports, and social welfare. The Foundation funds organizations and projects that are expected to achieve a broad, lasting and positive impact for society at large, and exhibit strong leadership and sound management. The Foundation also actively seeks to support projects that facilitate the formation of public-private partnerships as an effective means for serving public welfare. Since 1996, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation has made grant commitments of over $1.8 billion through 3,534 grants to nonprofit organizations in 111 nations around the world.

Since 2006, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation has supported the advancement of knowledge and skills of Greek orthopaedic surgeons through a partnership with HSS. The annual
HSS Stavros Niarchos Foundation Orthopaedic Education Seminar was founded to teach Greek orthopaedic surgeons the latest techniques and innovations in orthopaedic surgery. Since inception, 84 Greek surgeons have attended the Seminar Program.

In 2016, with continued support from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, HSS launched the
HSS Stavros Niarchos Foundation Academic Visitor Program. Designed for junior faculty from Greece to come to HSS to observe surgical and clinical care, this multi-faceted program ultimately promises to improve patient outcomes and elevate the quality of life for the Greek population.
