The HSS-Stavros Niarchos Foundation Academic Visitor Program is designed for orthopedic surgeons from Greece to observe surgical and clinical care; to be exposed to best practices in orthopedic surgery; and to experience the culture of excellence at HSS. Twice a year participants are selected for a period of two months: April–May and October–November. HSS covers the cost of airfare and lodging for selected participants. Visitors are responsible for procuring their own visa.
Participants will observe patient care and complex surgeries in state-of-the-art operating rooms; they will also participate in Grand Rounds, professional education programs, a visiting professional lecture series, and journal clubs, as available.

Two participants are selected for each session in the fall and spring. HSS covers the cost of airfare and lodging for selected HSS Stavros Niarchos Foundation Academic Visitor Program participants. Visitors are responsible for procuring their own visa.
Upon acceptance into the program, participants must agree to commit to two years of engagement and follow-up with HSS, with the ultimate goal of improving patient care in Greece.
Additionally, participants are encouraged to engage in at least two of the following activities:
Participants in the Academic Visitor Program are given the opportunity to interact with current leaders in orthopedics working on cutting edge advancements in arthroplasty. In the Spring, participants attend the Current Concepts in Joint Replacement Symposia, and in the Fall, participants attend the HSS-Stavros Niarchos Foundation Orthopedic Seminar Program. Additional symposia may be added if applicable to the learning objectives of the current participants.
All alumni of the Academic Visitor Program will be given a one year subscription to the HSS Journal and are welcome to submit their research for review and consideration for inclusion.
