HSS Stavros Niarchos Foundation Academic Visitor Program

The HSS Stavros Niarchos Foundation Academic Visitor Program is a newly developed opportunity for orthopaedic surgeons from Greece to observe surgical and clinical care at HSS.

Applicants must be either fourth or fifth year residents or surgeons who are within two years post-residency.

Participants will observe patient care and complex surgeries in state-of-the-art operating rooms. Visitors will also participate in grand rounds, journal club, professional education programs and a visiting professional lecture series.

The HSS Stavros Niarchos Foundation Academic Visitor Program allows participants to observe best practices in orthopaedic surgery and experience the culture of excellence at HSS.

Two participants will be selected to visit and observe at HSS over the course of a two-month session, with two sessions conducted per year. Sessions are in the spring/fall.

Eligibility Criteria

Greek orthopaedic residents in their fourth or fifth year


Greek orthopaedic surgeons that are one to two years post-residency

Selection Process

Applications will be reviewed by HSS faculty members of the HSS Stavros Niarchos Planning Committee. In addition, the committee may request a phone interview.

HSS will cover the cost of airfare and lodging for HSS Stavros Niarchos Foundation Academic Visitor Program participants.

Visitors are responsible for procuring their own visa.
