VIDEO: Minimizing Risk of RA Disease Flare in the Perioperative Period

Rheumatology Advisor—November 10, 2016

Rheumatology Advisor interviews Susan M. Goodman, MD, rheumatologist at HSS, to discuss her current research.

In the video, she states that her research interest is in the perioperative management of patients with rheumatic diseases - managing both the clinical and biologic features of patients with RA as they undergo arthroplasty.

"One of the things we've learned over the years is that arthritis patients who undergo hip replacement have an increased risk of complications, in particular infection, so we've been trying to understand the perioperative clinical features so we can try to improve that outcome," Dr. Goodman says.
