Hip replacement patients don't need precautions, study says

UPI reports that some low-risk hip replacement patients don’t need to follow post-surgical recovery safeguards, according to new research presented at the annual AAOS meeting.

"The precautions can be limiting and cause fear in patients," says Peter K. Sculco, MD, hip and knee surgeon and study author. "Sleeping on your back is very uncomfortable for many people. You often hear from physical therapists that patients are relieved when they can finally cross their legs and sleep on their side."
