UFC agrees to deal with New York Hospital for Special Surgery

Las Vegas Review-Journal—May 21, 2017

In an article published by Las Vegas Review-Journal, UFC announced today that Hospital for Special Surgery will serve as its first official hospital.

Louis A. Shapiro, president and CEO of HSS, said "if you are part of an organization that has an extraordinary brand, you want to associate that brand with other extraordinary brands. It's a great partnership from that perspective."

UFC will have access to a team of HSS physicians and physical therapy staff at the new UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas.

Chief of Sports Medicine and Shoulder Service, Bryan T. Kelly, MD, will serve as the UFC's Head Consulting Orthopedic Surgeon. Dr. Kelly said athletes will receive the highest care with supervision from the physical therapy staff. "We’ve hired someone from the U.S. Olympic Committee who is unbelievable and has won awards for her work, but to have somebody from HSS on top of that just gives us another level of expertise," Dr. Kelly added.
