The Truth About The Sitting Disease

Huffington Post—September 1, 2016

Huffington Post features Alice Chen, MD, physiatrist at HSS, in a video about 'the sitting disease'.

"A sedentary lifestyle means that you're sitting more than 2 hours at a clip, which is most of us," said Dr. Chen.

She quotes recent studies that found "that people who did work out but sat all the time still had larger waistlines than people who worked out but didn't sit all the time."

Dr. Chen offers some tips to keep moving during the workday:

  • Go get your own lunch
  • Take the long way around to the bathroom
  • Don't park so close
