What to Do If Pushups, Planks, and Other Exercises Hurt Your Wrists

Silver Sneakers featured HSS sports performance specialist Aaron Karp MS, ATC, CSCS, in an article on how to manage wrist pain during exercise.

"The wrists, like any other joint, are susceptible to developing arthritis as we age. Given that we use our wrists for nearly all activities throughout the day, we have a high probability of wearing away the cartilage between all surfaces that make up the wrist," said Karp.

When performing a plank, Karp suggested lowering onto your forearms for a low or bent-arm plank, which will take all the pressure off the wrists.
