HSS exercise physiologist Polly de Mille, RN, MA, RCEP, CSCS, USAT, discussed when to take a break from exercising in an article by Silver Sneakers.

The article reported that if you experience symptoms such as chest congestion, fever or diarrhea, then the body is trying to fight off an infection.

According to de Mille, your body needs to focus its energy on the infection.

She noted that it’s best to stay home and rest instead of adding the extra stress of exercise to your system.
