Silver Sneakers featured HSS sports performance specialist Tiffany Chag, MS, RD, CSCS in an article about strength training for older adults. Chag advised seniors to work with a personal trainer if they are having trouble perfecting their form.
"If you’ve never done resistance training before, keep day one short and sweet. Aim for 10 to 15 minutes. Then see how you feel," Chag added. She suggested if you are sore afterward, wait until the soreness is gone before beginning the next session.
