Poor posture may be contributing to shoulder pain. Nicholas Maroldi, PT, DPT, OCS, SFMA, manager of the Hand Therapy Center at HSS, recommends to "sit in a comfortable, neural position and make sure to get up every 30 minutes". Making a point to take breaks, stretch your chest, move your arms and pinch your shoulder blades down and back, can go a long way to help reduce stiffness.
It’s also important to work your back muscles. Maroldi explains that over 20 muscles work together to keep your shoulders healthy, but when the back muscles are weak, they can get overpowered and pull the shoulder blades out of a healthy alignment.
