According to de Mille, research consistently shows that foam rolling could increase muscle flexibility and improve form during workouts.
She added that foam rolling could also work by helping to tell your nervous system to reduce pain signals from the muscle.
"When you apply pressure to these hardened bands of tissue, you stimulate the pain receptors that are compressed within them," de Mille said.
