What Exactly Is KT Tape and How Does It Work?

Runner’s World—October 16, 2018

Runner’s World featured HSS physical therapist Laurey Lou PT, DPT, SCS, CSCS, in an article about the benefits of using kinesiology tape.

"It’s an elastic tape that provides sensory input into an area, but still allows for full range of motion," Lou explained.

"Depending on the way kinesiology tape is applied, it can be used for a variety of different things including, but not limited to, muscle inhibition/facilitation, pain relief, decreasing swelling, proprioceptive stability (helping your muscles provide stability while still allowing for motion), and tissue decompression," she added.

Additionally, Lou noted that it could be used to treat general muscle pain and swelling.
