Red Bulls defender Johnson has foot surgery

New York Red Bulls defender Carlos Johnson will be sidelined indefinitely after undergoing surgery to repair a fractured fifth metatarsal in his left foot.

The surgery was performed Tuesday night by Dr. David Levine at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

Johnson was hurt in the first half of Saturday's game in a 1-1 tie against Houston after a tackle by the Dynamo's Stuart Holden.
