Diagnostic potential of ultrasound not yet fully realized

Orthopedic Today's August 2018 print cover story features the diagnostic potential of ultrasound.

According to Theodore T. Miller, MD, FACR, chief of the division of Ultrasound in the Department of Radiology & Imaging at HSS, explains that ultrasonography has been shown to have no deleterious effects.

"The risk of any ultrasound guided procedure would be the same as any other time you are sticking a needle into somebody," Dr. Miller says. "You always have to do it with a sterile technique so that you do not introduce an infection to the patient."
