Newsday reports that local high school senior from Uniondale, Meredith Kass, launched a project called Meredith's Favorite Blanket. 

Kass, who has systemic lupus erythematosus, makes blankets to be sent to individuals including hurricane victims in Texas, survivors of shootings and pediatric patients at HSS.
