Newsday reports on a donation to HSS from the I’m Not Done Yet foundation created in memory of Bobby Menges to expand awareness of the unique requirements of adolescents and young adults during medical treatment.
Bobby had received care for over a decade at HSS to lengthen and realign his left leg which was fractured and deformed during a skiing accident at age 8.
HSS is launching the Bobby Menges Memorial Hospital for Special Surgery Limb Deformity Course which will be offered yearly to teach techniques for treating limb deformity and limb lengthening.
"He was a very special boy," said S. Robert Rozbruch, MD, chief of Limb Lengthening and Complex Reconstruction Service at HSS. "He had an inner strength and inner spirit that was very impressive. He had been through a lot, but he handled it very well. He was very strong and courageous and determined."
