Young players learn football tackling safety at camp

News 12 Long Island—July 11, 2017

News 12 Long Island covers a recent Long Island Youth Football Player Academy Camp where children are being taught the right techniques to play football safely.

They report that one workshop is run by Hospital for Special Surgery with the focus to reduce the risk of injury through stretching and agility drills.

"A lot of coaches overlook those basic movements. So if you can skip the right way, if you can run and slow down and change direction the right way, then you're going to do a lot better out on the field," said Jimmy Russomano, Sports Safety program manager at HSS.
