Complications cluster in inflammatory arthritis patients after total knee replacement

Rheumatology News featured a study by HSS rheumatologist Susan M. Goodman, MD, who found that patients with inflammatory arthritis (IA) had significantly higher rates of infections following a total knee replacement.

"These results have important implications for evolving bundled payment models. Hospitals should receive commensurate resources to maintain access to total TKA for patients with IA," said Dr. Goodman.

According to the article, Dr. Goodman presented her findings at the 2018 American College of Rheumatology (ACR) Annual Meeting.
