Triathlete—July 20, 2016

Are you feeling sick during race week? No need to fear. Jordan D. Metzl MD, a primary care sports medicine physician at Hospital for Special Surgery provides advice in "Triathlete" for athletes dealing with sickness right before race day.

Dr. Metzl says, "If you get sick, make sure you hydrate, relax and take supportive medicines (ibuprofen) to keep your symptoms in check." He also advices, "If the illness looks more serious (fever than 101 or nasty green phlegm), make sure you check in with your doc before you toe a start line."
