HSS Celebrates the Dedication of the Iris Cantor Spine Clinic

New York—November 2, 2018

Friends and family of international philanthropist Iris Cantor, along with HSS leadership, gathered at the Hospital to celebrate the dedication of the Iris Cantor Spine Clinic with a ribbon cutting on October 22.

Located within the Spine Center on the fourth floor of the new Pavilion, the Iris Cantor Spine Clinic at HSS provides patients with a seamless and highly personalized experience in a restorative setting.

“The Spine Clinic exemplifies the approach that I believe is the future of healthcare,” remarked Mrs. Cantor. “To provide expert diagnosis, treatment and follow-up, all in one location; and keep the patient at the center of the process.”

Mrs. Cantor, Chairman and President of the Iris & B. Gerald Cantor Foundation, supported the Clinic with a $3 million gift in honor of Surgeon-in-Chief Todd J. Albert, MD. Under the leadership of Dr. Albert and Dr. Frank Schwab, Chief of Spine Service, HSS Spine is the global epicenter for advancements in spine care and research. The HSS Spine Center receives over 18,000 visits each year, and the Clinic helps provide space to bring together world-renowned spine surgeons and non-operative physicians in one location.

“We are incredibly thankful to have Iris Cantor’s support,” said Dr. Albert. “It is an honor and a delight to be reminded of her generosity when I see patients every day in the beautiful Iris Cantor Spine Clinic.”

Mrs. Cantor has long been passionate about using her philanthropy to help improve the delivery of healthcare through a patient-centered experience. Her mission aligned well with the goals of HSS. “The Clinic reflects our commitment at HSS to put patients first,” said Dr. Schwab. “We are grateful for this healing environment that helps us bring patient care to a new level of excellence.”
