Orthopedics This Week—May 29, 2015

Orthopedics This Week reports that Hospital for Special Surgery has received a $2.76 million grant to establish the HSS Sports Medicine Injury Prevention Program aimed at preventing sports injuries among vulnerable young athletes.

"The program will be evaluated by assessing, via surveys and follow-up, how many coaches have implemented the program and how many young athletes are performing the exercises to prevent injury," said Dr. James Kinderknecht, program director and sports medicine surgeon at HSS.

"In the future, we will also evaluate for a decrease in ACL tears, overuse injuries and playing time missed," said Dr. Robert Marx, program director and orthopedic surgeon at HSS.
