Greenwich Daily Voice featured a bylined article by HSS sports medicine surgeon Karen M. Sutton, MD, who advocated the benefits of strength training.

"Strength training will increase your resting metabolic rate, which is the ability to burn calories while lounging around. It’s also a great addition to any weight-loss program," wrote Dr. Sutton.

If someone is new to strength training, Dr. Sutton noted that it’s important to start slowly and increase weights in a controlled fashion.
