In the Season 3 premiere of Eric & Jessie, Eric Decker, a professional football player, visited HSS to get medically cleared to play football again after undergoing both shoulder and hip surgeries. In the episode, HSS sports medicine surgeon David W. Altchek, MD examined Decker’s shoulder.
"Everything looks perfect," said Dr. Altchek, who cleared Decker to play.
After seeing Dr. Altchek, the Deckers visited Bryan T. Kelly, MD, chief of the Sports Medicine service at HSS, for a hip examination.
"Remember when we started, you basically had no motion at all… Having 25 degrees of motion across your hip will allow you to do a lot of things you weren’t able to do before," said Dr. Kelly. After reviewing his range of motion, Dr. Kelly said Decker is ready to get back to the field.
