HSS and Stamford Health to open advanced orthopedics care center

Crain's New York Business writes that Hospital for Special Surgery is forming HSS Orthopedics at Stamford Health, a center for advanced orthopedic care with Stamford Health.

"This is all about making better care more accessible," Louis A. Shapiro, president and CEO of HSS, told Crain's before the announcement. "We fully expect patients to travel throughout the entire state and surrounding states to receive world-class care in Stamford."

Mr. Shapiro said the partnership represents one strategy HSS is employing to expand its reach beyond Manhattan while retaining its independence, even as other hospitals consolidate.
