Could A Five Minute Fix Add Years To Your Life? Experts Say It Can

CBS New York—May 24, 2017

CBS New York featured a segment on how running five minutes a day can add three years to your life. HSS primary care sports physician Jordan D. Metzl, MD was interviewed and said, "running is an example of a high intensity workout, so when you ramp up your intensity you can condense the time you need to exercise to a very short period of time."

Dr. Metzl said that during those five minutes, metabolism increases and muscle strength improves. The benefit is taking a break from prolonged sitting and inactivity.

"Inactivity is really the main problem of our generation today, it’s not obesity, it’s inactivity," he said.
