How a Little Known Disease Affects the Hands

Autumn Years Magazine featured a bylined article by HSS hand and upper extremity surgeon Scott W. Wolfe, MD, who addressed how to treat Dupuytren's contracture.

According to the article, the condition causes a layer of tissue underneath the palm of the hand to thicken.

If the disease gets worse and starts interfering with hand function, Dr. Wolfe explained that cortisone injections and surgery could be beneficial.
