American Journal of Managed Care—March 23, 2017
A worldwide study stated rheumatoid arthritis patients and providers often focused on separate goals, which can lead to a disconnect in communication. American Journal of Managed Care interviewed Allan Gibofsky, MD, rheumatologist at HSS, on the communication gap between patients and physicians.
"We focus on whether a medication is working and whether or not they have side effects from it. Patients focus on whether or not they’re able to participate in their activities of daily living and take care of their family," said Dr. Gibofsky.
He added, "there is an increased need for communication between patients and providers."
