AARP reports on ailments that are not classified as medical calamities but can cause pain, discomfort and embarrassment.

One ailment is frozen shoulder which is when adhesions develop in a shoulder capsule leading to the painful, progressive tightening of the joint and loss of movement for months or even years. 

According to Jordan D. Metzl, MD, primary care sports medicine physician at HSS, it’s critical to see your doctor as soon as you have symptoms. "The deeper you get into the inflammation stage, the longer your recovery," he explains.
