The Association of American Medical Colleges' AAMCNews featured HSS rheumatologist Anne R. Bass, MD, in an article about emerging medical specialties.

According to the article, there is a growing need for researchers to identify markers and phenotypes linked to autoimmune conditions.  

"There are characteristic patterns of effects that we are seeing frequently. Some patients may be genetically predisposed to them," said Dr. Bass.
