International Center Services

Below is a description of the primary services we offer and provide to our international patients. Any questions or concerns not addressed in this section can be posed to our staff via our Contact Us page or by calling us directly at (212) 606-1186.

Medical Care Arrangements

First, you should request an appointment with an HSS physician via the International Center by clicking on the How to get an appointment link and following the instructions. You can also call us directly.

Once you contact the International Center, our specially trained staff will refer you to the appropriate doctor and schedule all of the necessary appointments and diagnostic studies. All appointments are confirmed via phone, fax, or email. Our staff will be in contact with you and your family to accommodate and arrange for any needed support services throughout the hospital stay.

In order to expedite your medical evaluation at HSS, you or your referring physician can send any relevant medical reports to the International Center in advance via fax or mail.

Financial Services

The staff at the International Center will provide you with an estimate of treatment costs based on your particular condition and treatments, and will explain each part of the estimate to you.

Once you arrive at HSS, International Center staff will help you manage all of the financial aspects of your visit, including coordinating payments to various doctors and offering information about how to wire funds from home.


The Belaire Guest Facility is conveniently located near the hospital. The accommodations offer comfortable lodging for patients and their families. Studio, one and two bedroom units can be combined to offer suites that can accommodate up to six guests. Each unit has a full-service kitchenette, full bath, and a living room/seating area, as well as telephone and television services. The guest facility at HSS has 24-hour security and each room has an intercom to the main lobby.

Medical Interpreters

International Center staff speak several languages and can serve as interpreters. In addition, through HSS Language Services, the Hospital provides medical interpretation, key HSS document translations, and communication assistance and devices. International Center staff or other interpreters from the Hospital will accompany you to your medical and related appointments to ensure you have your best clinical experience. All these interpretation services are provided free-of-charge. Please let us know in advance if you would like an interpreter.


There are a number of car services listed in the Neighborhood Directory on the In and Around New York City page if you need to arrange for transportation to and from the airport, hospital and hotel. The International Center can also arrange for car service upon request. In addition to the standard black car service, we can also provide information on a specialty car service that provides assistance with baggage, security, and special needs at the airport. Please ask us for more information if you are interested in this service. You will need to provide us with your credit card information to reserve either type of car service. You may also choose to use yellow cabs which are available at every airport terminal and easy to hail by the hospital.
