In 2009, the Orthopaedic Nursing Education Scholarship was established in honor of Georgette “Gigi” Viellion, RN, ONC, a former Nurse Manager of the Orthopaedic and Rheumatology units at HSS. Gigi dedicated her life to the education and advancement of Orthopaedic Nursing. The Alumni Association created a scholarship for HSS nurses who, like Gigi, are dedicated to orthopaedic nursing and demonstrate a commitment to continuing education. The Alumni Association, in collaboration with the Nursing Department, will award this scholarship annually to a nurse for their skills, talent, and future potential.
This scholarship in the amount of $1,500 will support the travel and accommodation expenses and registration fees for one RN to attend the Annual American Academy of Orthopaedic (AAOS) Annual Meeting each year. The award will be presented every year at the HSS Alumni Association Annual Meeting.
Candidates must be an RN on staff at HSS at time of application, with a minimum of one year employment as a part-time or full-time nurse at HSS.
