Research

Dr. Ouanes' clinical research focus has been under the mentorship of Dr. Fritz Sieber (Chair of Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center). Together they studied the role of regional anesthesia in identifying and optimizing the anesthetic management of the elderly patient undergoing orthopedic and vascular surgical procedures.

In addition, Dr. Ouanes was the Johns Hopkins site principal investigator (2016-2019) for a pragmatic international, multi-center trial investigating regional versus general anesthesia in hip fracture patients (REGAIN trial).
